Golubac

Golubac Fortress was built at the entrance of the Iron Gate gorge, a place where the Danube’s widest stream flows into a pass of the Carpathian Mountains. The Fortress represented an important military border stronghold, built purposely in response to the military and strategic significance of the area. The position of the fortress allowed easy control over all roads and waterways connecting the east and the west, while the steep and inaccessible Ridan cliffs on which the fort was built, as well as the Danube River, provided natural protection. Such a position led the border powers – Hungary and Serbia, and later the Ottoman Empire, to battle throughout the 14th and 15th centuries in order to conquer the Golubac Fortress, thus gaining control and dominance over the state border.

Underground Belgrade

The city secrets tour is a descent into the historical heart of our capital. The tour begins in front of the Belgrade Fortress, at the Monument of Gratitude to France, from where the introduction to the secrets of this area, where people have lived and existed for millennia, begins.

Then we visit the Roman well, a mysterious building that was created about three centuries ago, created during the Austrian rule in the city. There are countless stories and legends about it that introduce guests directly to the city & its turbulent past.

Then we entered the military bunker, which until 2008 was a complete military secret for all guests at the Fortress, because the entrance was masked and no one even suspected that there was an important anti-aircraft defense point there.

We then introduce the tour guests to the most impressive part of the story, which is the Great Gunpowder Store, an artificial cave almost three hundred years old. Even more interesting, today we keep in it the oldest Roman monuments, dating from the first to the fourth century.

At the end, the Bohemian part of the story follows, when guests visit Vinskelagume in Karađorđeva street, where witty, Bohemian stories await them, as well as refreshments and wine.
